FAQ

1. What is Quick Assembly Split Coin Cell ( 20mm ID) for Battery Material testing?

The Quick Assembly Split Coin Cell (20mm ID) is a type of test cell used in battery material testing. It is designed for quick and easy assembly and disassembly, allowing for efficient testing of battery materials and components.

The split coin cell consists of two parts: a top and a bottom piece. The top piece usually features a coin-shaped cavity with a diameter of 20mm, where the battery material or electrode can be placed. The bottom piece acts as a holder for the electrolyte and serves as the counter electrode.

To assemble the split coin cell, the battery material or electrode is placed in the top piece, and the bottom piece is used to secure it in position. The two pieces are then tightly sealed together to prevent any leakage or contamination.  Once assembled, the split coin cell can be used for various tests, such as electrochemical characterization, cycling tests, and performance evaluations.

The quick assembly feature of the split coin cell allows researchers to rapidly change and test different battery materials or electrode configurations without the need for specialized equipment or complex procedures.  This makes it a convenient tool for battery material research and development, as well as quality control and performance assessment in the battery industry.

2.How to test coin cell battery?

The method of testing a button battery is relatively simple and straightforward, and usually involves checking its voltage to make sure it still has enough power to drive the device. You can use a Digital Multimeter (DMM) to test. First, set the multimeter to the DC voltage (DCV) measuring gear and select the appropriate range (usually button batteries such as the CR2032 voltage is 3V, so choose a range close to but not exceeding this value). Then, gently touch the positive and negative terminals of the button battery with the positive and negative probes of the multimeter (note that the positive and negative terminals are not connected in reverse), and the value displayed on the screen is the current voltage of the battery. If the voltage is close to or reaches the nominal value, the battery is in good condition. If the voltage is significantly below the nominal value, it indicates that the battery is low and may need to be replaced.

3.What to watch out for when splitting a coin battery

First, make sure that all the materials used to make the battery are clean and not corroded or broken, so as not to create a risk of short circuit or leakage during testing.

Second, since this battery may not be as safe and stable as commercial batteries, it should be avoided when testing it in direct contact with the skin, especially if it is wet or there is a wound, in case of chemical irritation or electrical damage.

Next, use the appropriate test tool, such as a digital multimeter, and set it to the correct measuring gear (usually DC voltage for voltage tests). When connecting the test tool, ensure that the positive and negative terminals are correctly connected to avoid device damage or incorrect measurement results.

In addition, carefully observe and record the results during the test, but also keep a certain distance to prevent unexpected situations (such as overheating, leakage, etc.) of the battery. If any abnormal conditions are found, the test should be stopped immediately and properly handled.

Finally, after the test is completed, this non-standard battery should be properly disposed of to avoid environmental pollution or safety hazards caused by random disposal. If possible, it is best to consult a professional or relevant agency to find out how to dispose of such items safely.
